Specialist Tutoring That Meets Every Learner Where
They Are
At Empower Sensory Services, I believe that every child learns differently — and that
difference is something to celebrate, not overcome. My specialist tutoring is
designed from the ground up for learners with autism, additional learning needs
(ALN), and sensory processing differences, delivered by a tutor who understands not
just the curriculum, but the whole child behind it.
A Different Kind of Tutoring
Traditional tutoring often assumes a one-size-fits-all approach: sit still, focus, keep
up. For many of the children and young people I support, that model simply doesn’t
work. My sessions are built around the individual — their strengths, their sensory
needs, their learning style, and the pace that helps them genuinely thrive.
Whether your child struggles with reading and literacy, finds maths anxiety-inducing,
needs support with executive functioning, or simply hasn’t yet found a learning
environment where they feel safe and understood, I’m here to change that. Every
session is a space where curiosity is welcomed, effort is recognised, and progress —
however it looks — is celebrated.
Supporting Learners with Complex and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties
Some of the young people I work with have needs that go far beyond what traditional education settings are equipped to support. For learners with complex and profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), the priority isn’t always the curriculum — it’s connection, communication, and finding meaningful ways to engage with the world around them.
I work with learners at all levels of need, including those who are pre-verbal or use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), those with significant physical or sensory impairments alongside cognitive differences, and those whose learning profile is highly individualised and doesn’t fit neatly into any standard framework.
Sessions for these learners are highly bespoke. They may focus on sensory exploration and regulation, cause-and-effect understanding, early communication and interaction, or building routines and predictability that support engagement. Progress looks different here — and that’s something I embrace fully. Every moment of connection, every new response, every sign of curiosity is meaningful and worth celebrating.
