Hi, I'm Helen — a fully qualified teacher based in Pinner with over 30 years of experience. I'm an Ofsted Outstanding (Grade 1) rated teacher, a Dyslexia and SEN Specialist, and a published educational author.

I work with students in person across the Pinner, Harrow, Ruislip, Northwood and Uxbridge areas, and online nationwide via Teams, FaceTime and WhatsApp.

I specialise in English Language and Literacy, supporting students from primary level right through to GCSE, A Level and BTEC — as well as 11+ and Common Entrance preparation. I also have extensive experience with dyslexia, ADHD, Asperger's, EAL and other specific learning difficulties.

My teaching approach is multi-sensory — visual, auditory and kinaesthetic — because I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable, not a chore. In the first lesson, I assess individual needs, create a personalised learning plan and give feedback to parents. Each session then builds on the last, filling in any gaps before moving forward.

I always say: if a student doesn't understand how I've explained something, that's my responsibility to fix — not the student's. Repeating instructions isn't the key; explaining things in different ways is what works.

I'm also an Advisory Practitioner for the Society of Education and Training (SET), DBS certified, and the author of The Bumper Book of Double Learning, endorsed by the Borough Mayor of Hillingdon.
