Advert description
I teach Mathematics through well-structured, purposeful lessons that focus on building conceptual understanding, fluency, and confidence. My lessons are carefully sequenced, beginning with a clear learning objective and a short retrieval activity to revisit prior knowledge and address misconceptions.
I model new concepts explicitly using clear explanations, worked examples, and visual representations, ensuring that mathematical language is used accurately and consistently. I break learning into manageable steps and use targeted questioning to check understanding before moving on.
Practice is purposeful and gradually increases in challenge, allowing pupils to develop independence while still feeling supported. I differentiate through scaffolding, varied tasks, and questioning, ensuring all learners — including SEND and EAL pupils — can access the curriculum while higher-attaining students are appropriately stretched.
Assessment for learning is embedded throughout my lessons through questioning, mini-whiteboards, and ongoing feedback, enabling me to adapt teaching in real time. I maintain high expectations for behaviour and engagement, creating a calm, focused classroom where pupils feel confident to participate and take risks in their learning.
Overall, my approach to teaching Mathematics is inclusive, structured, and pupil-centred, with a strong emphasis on consistency, clarity, and positive relationships to support progress for all learners.
