Advert description
br/>I’m a recent sixth form graduate and tutor offering rigorous, effective and personalised support with Latin and Greek up to A-Level. Having consistently achieved top grades at A-Level and GCSE, I know what it takes to succeed, and am eager to inspire others to develop the mastery - not just the competency - that their learning requires.
I take an active approach to tutoring - doing is learning - so I stimulate my tutees to and enrich their capabilities by exploring unfamiliar problems and contexts. However, I never intend to make anything feel hard or overwhelming: everything makes sense once broken down. To that end, I strive to explain how and why concepts work, encouraging tutees to make new and important connections between topics in the process. If you choose to focus on the language paper of GCSE Latin, you’ll quickly move past ‘textbook passages’ and tackle authentic Latin prose from the likes of Caesar and Livy in great detail, building your vocabulary and developing your intuition for syntax through real examples - and all the while, you’ll explore how rich and exciting Latin texts can be outside the classroom. Above all, though, one-on-one lessons will be focused on you. I am keen to design lessons to meet you where you are, and push you that little bit further.
Fresh out of A-Levels, I’m eager to guide students through the challenges and strategies of exams with real candour. Lessons will probably never end without a bit of light-heartedness on my part. I have proven experience with tutoring - I volunteered as a tutor to Year 5 and 6 pupils at a local primary school, and have informally tutored Latin and Greek at GCSE - and I have experienced the great, rewarding joy of not only making difficult topics click for tutees, but also really developing their academic instincts.
So whether you’re trying to make the Aeneid make sense, or just need help with your 1st declension nouns, I'm happy to help!
