Advert description
I am a postgraduate student at the University of Oxford, currently pursuing cancer research. I achieved a First Class Honours in my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science and spent a year abroad at Cornell University, an Ivy League institution in the U.S.
I have around two years of tutoring experience, teaching students aged 6–18. I specialise in A Level Biology, with a strong focus on identifying and addressing individual learning challenges. I have successfully helped students improve their grades, including taking students from a B to an A.
A Level Biology can be challenging due to the heavy emphasis on memorisation and the need to apply knowledge to unfamiliar contexts. There are specific pitfalls that can affect a student’s performance, and my aim is to help students recognise and overcome these. Together, we develop a structured and effective plan to target areas for improvement and apply these skills confidently. I specialise in EDUQAS A Level Biology, but have experience working with OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL also.
Each session is personalised. I prepare tailored PowerPoint materials based on the topics requested by the student. During lessons, we work through exam-style questions, check understanding, and reinforce learning through active recall (I often ask students to explain concepts back to me). I am a constructive but strict marker, as I believe that learning from mistakes is key to achieving top grades.
