Advert description
Struggling with biology or finding some topics difficult to understand? I can help you turn complicated concepts into clear, manageable ideas.
I’m a professional scientist with over 10 years of experience in biotechnology and drug discovery, and I have several years of experience providing one-to-one tutoring in biology and chemistry. I hold both a First-Class MA in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and a First-Class BA in Biotechnology.
My scientific career has given me extensive expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry and biotechnology. I enjoy sharing this knowledge and using real-world examples to make science more interesting and easier to understand.
My teaching approach
I believe that every student learns differently. I therefore adapt each lesson to the student's individual level, needs and goals.
Whether you are struggling with a particular topic, preparing for an exam, catching up on missed work or simply want to improve your understanding, I will work with you step by step.
My lessons focus on:
- Breaking complex concepts into simple, understandable explanations
- Identifying and addressing gaps in knowledge
- Using questions and examples to check understanding
- Developing confidence and independent learning skills
- Preparing personalised revision materials and practice questions where appropriate
- Connecting biology concepts to real-world science and research
I previously worked as a self-employed tutor, providing personalised one-to-one lessons to high school students in biology, chemistry, as well as supporting younger students with homework.
In my scientific career, I have also mentored junior scientists, led a team of researchers, and delivered scientific presentations and training to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Subjects
Biology: Molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, biotechnology and related topics.
Chemistry: Support for school-level chemistry.
I can also provide support with scientific data analysis and experimental design for students who need help understanding these areas.
My goal is not simply to help you get through an exam, but to help you understand the subject, build confidence and become a more independent learner.
If you'd like to discuss your learning goals, feel free to get in touch!
