With a B.A. Honours in History from Presidency University, Kolkata, India and as a current MPhil in History (Early Modern History, 1500-1700) student at the University of Oxford, I am very keen to provide online tutoring in History and English to students

As someone who is deeply interested in pursuing a career in academia, teaching has been a passion for a long time. In India, during the COVID-19 pandemic I have provided online English tutoring to a standard 8 student of the CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination) board for almost 2 years (for standard 8 and 9) and also Spoken English lessons to another student from India. Hence, I have learnt and honed the skills required for online teaching and have developed an understanding of the approaches that work in the same. I have always believed in the importance of analysis in igniting creativity and innovation. Therefore, I will ensure that while I solve all the doubts of my student, they also have enough opportunity to think about the various aspects of a subject and come up with new understandings and interpretations of questions. I would encourage them to come up with doubts and not consider any question as silly. Part of the reason I love teaching is because it gives me an opportunity to ponder on my own understandings of various topics and aspects and improve on them through interactions with my students as well as learn new things. Hence, this is the approach I would love to take towards teaching and ensure that the students have a wholistic and enriching learning experience.
