I have taught A level History and GCSE History for over 30 years. I also teach UK Politics A Level and GCSE English.
I have a long experience with exam boards: I began writing A level coursework, moved onto A level mark schemes, and continued to be a GCSE examiner across a range of topics and led a team of examiners.
As a parent, teacher, examiner and former school leader I realise the challenges exam courses can bring.
My first approach is to discuss any concerns you have with the subject, diagnose and then plan with you a way ahead: this may be to reinforce subject content, to go through exam technique and past papers or to look retention and revision strategies.
All of the sessions are collaborative and I hope interesting and enjoyable. These sessions are conducted on Zoom meetings and I can also reinforce any resources you may require.
The reason I undertook a varied examining career was to provide as much insight to students as possible. I know that the size of exam courses and amount of content can seem worrying, and the key for a student is confidence and self esteem.
Similarly, I am acutely aware of what it takes to achieve the highest grades, having coached students for Oxbridge and other university entry qualifications.
Whatever your requirements, I work with you to respond to your needs and concerns: these may be to reinforce topics you are currently studying, or to refresh topics you may have previously covered in years 10 or 12, for example.
