Reflective RS teacher; lessons for curious secondary students

Advert description
I’ll build confidence by explaining topics clearly, practising exam skills, and supporting you all the way so you understand Religious Studies and feel ready for your exams.
Laura Giles in a nutshell
My Religious Studies lessons are all about making the subject easier to understand and more enjoyable to learn. I know that RS can sometimes feel overwhelming with so many beliefs, theories, and exam requirements to keep track of. That’s why I break everything down into simple steps, making sure students feel supported and confident as they go.

I work with students at both GCSE (AQA) and A Level (OCR), covering topics such as Christianity, Buddhism, Philosophy of Religion, Ethics, and Developments in Christian Thought. Lessons are flexible and tailored to what each student needs — whether that’s help understanding a difficult idea, practising an essay plan, or preparing for an upcoming exam.
A big focus is on exam technique. I help students learn how to structure answers clearly, use quotes effectively, and write with confidence under timed conditions. We use past papers, model answers, and practical strategies so that students know exactly what examiners are looking for.
At the same time, I want lessons to be interesting and thought-provoking. Students get the chance to discuss big questions, explore different viewpoints, and connect RS topics to the real world. My aim is for them to leave each session not just with better grades in mind, but also with a stronger sense of curiosity and confidence in their learning.
Every lesson is friendly, supportive, and focused on progress — helping students achieve their best while actually enjoying the subject.
