Advert description
Hi, I'm Melissa and I'm currently studying Medicine at the University of East Anglia and have a great passion for Biology. At A-level I received an A* in Biology and greatly loved the subject. I've continued this passion in my studies at Uni and would love to share this passion with students while helping them pass their GCSE exams.
In the past, I worked as an English and Maths tutor for primary school children and learnt a lot about the best way to keep students engaged, help them excel academically, all while having fun in sessions.
In my tutoring sessions, I aim to tailor the content around what my student feels they need to work on; and really allowing the student to feel in control of their session. Building a good rapport with my students is something I feel is of great importance to helping them with their learning. If the student enjoys fun games, quizzes and puzzles to aid their learning, this is something I'll make sure to include in the sessions. However, if they prefer a more comprehensive, exam-focussed approach then again I would take that into account and tailor for what they find most helpful.
I also find that stress management is of great importance, particularly in GCSE students, and I'd love to be able to share some of the tips I used during my GCSE and A-level exams to get the most out of revision while not becoming too overwhelmed.
As I mentioned earlier, I aim to build a good rapport with all of my students and really enjoy getting to know a bit about their hobbies and interests. Sometimes I find you can relate the content they're learning to something they enjoy; which is a great way of learning.
I massively look forward to working with and meeting new students and helping them in their academic journey.
