Advert description
I'm a writer and scientist experienced in developing both creative and academic projects, from in-depth line editing with a focus on clarity to exploring characters and style. I am excited to work on short stories, novel extracts, academic paper or literature review drafts and more.
I have a PhD in Biology and am currently completing a Masters in Creative Writing (Prose Fiction) at the University of East Anglia. I've also studied creative writing at the National Centre for Writing, Norwich. My research and academic writing has been published in high-impact journals such as Nature Plants and Molecular Plant. I have also published poetry in Consilience. I'm currently working on a collection of short stories and a novel, as well as posting essays on Substack.
I am prepared and excited to guide your writing to the next level. Before our session, I will review an extract of up to 1000 words from your piece and provide detailed feedback. We will then discuss the feedback in an online Zoom meeting (or other platform of your choice) and how to develop the problem areas, to ensure that the piece retains your voice whilst also maximising clarity and achieving everything you intended. I will provide exercises and reading recommendations so that you can develop further after the session.
Alternatively, if you are just getting started with creative writing, we can work on exercises together; I can mentor you in navigating your first pieces and finding your voice.
I am happy to provide one-off sessions, or meet regularly to develop an extended piece of work together. If you would like me to review a longer piece for one session, we can discuss pricing that reflects the extended reading and editing time required.
Please feel free to message or email me to discuss your needs and project. I look forward to meeting you!
