Encouraging Maths Tutor – University Student in Mechanical Engineering – GCSE Grade 9 Achiever – A-Level Maths A Achiever

Hi! I'm Arsalan Musthapha, a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Birmingham. I studied Maths, Philosophy and Physics at A-Level, achieving an A in Maths, and at GCSE I got a Grade 9 in Maths, alongside strong grades across the sciences and English. My hard work and brilliant teachers shaped how I approach learning — and now I want to pass that on to you.

I know first-hand how tough Maths can feel, whether it's a tricky GCSE topic or the jump in difficulty at A-Level. What got me through it was hard work and breaking problems down step by step. What helped me the most was having someone patient enough to explain things until I understand it. That's exactly the kind of tutor I want to be for you. I genuinely care about my students' progress, and my goal isn't just to help you pass — it's to help you build real confidence and achieve the grades you're capable of, through hard work and proper understanding.

I prioritise thorough knowledge consolidation followed by exam practice in each topic, as I believe building a deep understanding first gives you the skills to tackle any problem confidently. Lessons can last between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the student's needs, and my hourly rate is £13 per hour. Sessions include explanation of key concepts, worked examples, topic worksheets and exam practice.

My GCSE grades: Maths – 9, Physics – 9, Chemistry – 8, Biology – 8, English Literature – 7, English Language – 6. At A-Level I achieved an A in Maths (alongside Physics and Philosophy). As a current engineering university student, I use maths every day in my degree, so I understand exactly what's needed to build a strong foundation and succeed at both GCSE and A-Level. I tutor GCSE (Year 9, 10 & 11), secondary school and primary school students in Maths, helping them build confidence, master difficult topics, and achieve top grades.
