Advert description
“Education is the passport to the future.” Years spent tutoring French and Philosophy and travelling the world teaching English as a Foreign Language reaffirmed my belief that the world is better when we understand one another. I enable cultural exchange, broaden perspectives and deepen subject understanding when teaching French, EFL and Russian.
Extensive experience, as a private tutor has enabled me to develop strong interpersonal and adaptive teaching skills.
As a tutor, I build positive relationships founded on empathy, consistency and high expectations, from which I believe the most meaningful learning stems. I seek to inspire enthusiasm while adapting creatively to individual needs and changing circumstances. To support this aspect of my practice, I actively pursue extensive professional development, including courses in Global Citizenship Education, AI in EFL Classrooms and Teaching Neurodivergent students.
My BA and PGCE specialising in French and Russian, alongside international experiences from studying in Russia to teaching in places like Martinique and Hong Kong, has equipped me to work confidently within culturally and linguistically diverse environments. I am passionate about multilingualism and creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and promote ambitious yet achievable goals for everyone. My continued enthusiasm for language learning, more recently studying Cantonese through CLIL methods, and my broader interests in philosophy and intercultural communication enable me to make learning relevant, authentic and intellectually engaging.
During my PGCE, my first placement exposed me to the Conti Extensive Processing Instruction approach, utilising sentence builders and extensive target language use to build confidence and fluency. Alongside this, I gained valuable insight into moderation of the new language GCSEs and EAL support systems within diverse school communities, on which I completed a Professional Assignment which provides a strong basis for working in international schools.
My second placement involved teaching French and Russian in a highly academic setting, where I designed lessons from scratch, supported GCSE students through writing and speaking preparation, and observed and assisted in Russian A-Level language teaching.
