Advert description
Hi, I’m Jacob, an Aerospace Electronic Engineering student at the University of Southampton with a strong passion for maths and physics and a genuine drive to help students succeed.
I achieved 8 Grade 9s at GCSE, including Maths, English Literature and Language, and all three sciences, before going on to study Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry at A-Level. Having recently completed these myself, I understand both the academic demands and the pressure students face, which allows me to give clear, relevant guidance that truly helps.
Alongside my studies, I was a Maths and Physics Prefect, where I supported GCSE students in lessons and led intervention sessions. This experience was incredibly rewarding, especially seeing students grow in confidence and improve their grades. It’s what inspired me to continue helping students develop not just academically, but personally as well.
My approach focuses on building confidence and deep understanding. I explain concepts clearly, work through examples step by step, and then gradually encourage students to work more independently so they feel fully prepared for exams. I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs.
Lessons are taught online via Zoom or Teams using a shared whiteboard, and can range from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on preference.
Having recently been through GCSEs, A-Levels, and now university, I’m also happy to support students with exam preparation, subject choices, and any wider challenges they may face in their education.
My goal is simple: to help students achieve their best results while building confidence and a lasting understanding of the subject.
