Advert description
My teaching approach focuses on making science simple, engaging, and enjoyable while helping students develop a strong understanding of the GCSE syllabus. As an MBBS graduate with teaching and mentoring experience, I understand how to explain complex scientific concepts in a clear, structured, and practical way. My aim is not just to help students memorise information, but to ensure they understand the concepts and can confidently apply their knowledge in examinations.
I will begin by assessing each student’s current understanding, strengths, weaknesses, and learning goals. This will help me tailor lessons to their individual needs and preferred learning styles. Whether a student needs support with challenging topics, regular revision, or intensive GCSE exam preparation, I will develop a structured learning plan to help them make consistent progress.
During online lessons, I will explain topics step by step using simple language, diagrams, visual resources, and real-life examples. In Biology, for example, I can make topics such as cells, human physiology, genetics, and disease easier to understand by connecting scientific principles with everyday experiences and medical knowledge. I will encourage students to ask questions freely and create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable admitting when they do not understand something.
I believe active participation is essential for effective learning. Rather than delivering long lectures, I will involve students through questioning, short quizzes, discussions, and problem-solving activities. I will regularly ask them to explain concepts in their own words, which will help me identify misunderstandings and ensure that learning is taking place. Where appropriate, I will use screen sharing, digital whiteboards, and online learning materials to make lessons interactive and visually engaging.
A key part of my teaching will be developing strong examination skills. I will introduce GCSE-style questions throughout lessons so students become familiar with different question formats, command words, mark schemes, and the level of detail expected in their answers. I will teach them how to structure responses, interpret graphs and data, apply scientific knowledge, and avoid common examination mistakes. Past-paper practice will help students improve their timing, accuracy, and confidence.
