Advert description
GCSE and A-level tutoring for English and History.
I'm Chris Read - a trained secondary school English teacher, currently working for the largest Initial Teacher Training provider in England where I design and deliver teacher training to teachers in all subjects and phases. Archway Education is a personal 'side' business, tutoring pupils, which I've started alongside my main employment, training teachers.
I've worked in education for 14 years. Alongside teaching pupils and training teachers, I have been chair of governors of a secondary school, and am currently vice chair of governors at the primary school where my two daughters attend. I chair the education and standards committees of a 10-school multi academy trust, where I was formerly chair of trustees, and chair the education committee of the primary school where I am vice chair.
I have successfully taught English Language and Literature at three secondary schools, to ages 11-18, and have taught the AQA, EdExcel, and Cambridge iGCSE specifications. I have a PGCE in secondary teaching and English, and I have a Masters in Education Leadership, awarded with Merit. Both my PGCE and Masters are from the University of Manchester, and I have a political studies and history BA (Hons) degree from the University of Leeds. I'm also comfortable tutoring History, in which I have a deep interest and knowledge.
I have A* in English Language and A* in English Literature myself, and have Language and Literature qualifications at both GCSE and A Level.
