I teach things differently so that you can learn more about a language and actually use it

I've noticed a lot that in professional teaching environments people don't really learn things they might actually use when talking with someone. More than half the things they'll say would sound like gibberish and when it's your time to speak you'll only be able to say "I'm good, how are you?"
In school I would lose concentration and interest in Spanish classes but it wasn't only because I knew most of it already- it was because it felt like a waste of my time! Why would I ever bring up loving a library or going to the beach last year to someone? It just wasn't worth it, so I want to do it differently.

I believe that what a lot of people lack is the understanding of the language's culture and what the people of it are like. Even in professional settings a lot of things would still be quite improper (I would know from first-hand experience).
A language like Italian is more than just words- it's full of gestures and loud expressions and sayings that barely make any sense- it's fun and random and chaotic, so lessons should definitely resemble that or not much will actually really be learnt!

I like to teach about a certain area at a time. How I did it with my friends was highly improvisational but of course the lessons here will be (mainly) planned.
I'd point something out in Italian, describe it, and then explain it. From that point, I would help with pronunciations of words, how to structure the actual sentence, and how to use it in conversation.
One of the first things I would do is point out features of people- like clothing or faces- to get started and then move on to locations, emotions, and objects (as long as it's something you can use in conversation).
Then- once comfortable with the basics of the language- I would teach about gestures, expressions, and sayings to make communication easier in scenarios you may find yourself in.

I will try my best to have every lesson count- making it the spitting image of Italy rather than having it seem like a waste of your time.
