Advert description
I’m an experienced maths tutor working across all levels, from basic numeracy through to GCSE (A-level maybe considered depending on pupil need)
My approach combines high challenge with low stakes: I set ambitious expectations while creating a supportive environment where pupils can make mistakes, build confidence and develop genuine mathematical understanding. I believe that every pupil, including those with SEN, should be encouraged to have high ambitions and given the right support to achieve them.
I have extensive experience working with pupils who have become disengaged from mainstream education, including learners with SEMH and SEND needs. I understand that traditional approaches do not work for every pupil, and I adapt my teaching to meet individual needs, interests and starting points.
For pupils who have lost confidence in maths, I focus on rebuilding trust in the subject alongside developing core skills. For those who are ready to progress, I provide appropriate challenge and encourage them to think independently, explain their reasoning and persevere with unfamiliar problems.
Whether a pupil needs support with basic numeracy, is preparing for GCSE, or simply needs a different approach to reconnect with maths, I aim to make lessons purposeful, engaging and achievable—while never losing sight of what they are capable of achieving.
I am a fully qualified teacher with a Bachelors Degree, PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status. I hold a current Enhanced DBS - documentary evidence can be provided. First session will be offered free of charge.
Fee includes all planning and session reporting to the fee payer. Where applicable I can set homework to allow pupils an opportunity to independently practice current learning, this may incur an additional charge.
