Advert description
As someone who went from a D to an A in A level Psychology, I understand the struggles students face and know what it takes to succeed. This experience has given me strong subject knowledge, effective exam strategies and the ability to relate to students who may be struggling.
I begin by asking students what they want to achieve and how they learn best, as every student is different. I tailor my teaching to their needs while ensuring lessons remain engaging and focused on exam success. In my experience, many students know some of the content but lack confidence in exam technique and exam structure, which can limit their performance.
My lessons combine content with interactive activities that help students retain information in their long-term memory. I use starter questions to assess prior knowledge and adapt my teaching where necessary. I also incorporate mark scheme terminology into notes and discussions so students learn how to structure answers in a way that gains marks. Throughout the lesson , I include exam-style questions to give students regular opportunities to apply their knowledge and develop confidence. Occasionally, I set targeted homework for students who need extra support to encourage consistency and progress. For example, before the next lesson, I may ask a student to prepare a brief explanation of Bowlby's monotropic theory so they can teach it back to me.
Having once been in the position of struggling myself, I can reassure students that improvement is achievable with the right approach and consistency. This allows me to build strong rapport with learners and help them reach their full potential.
