Advert description
I am a teacher with over 30 years experience. I am currently Head of Social Sciences at a leading academy with an outstanding academic record. Alongside my classroom teaching, I have many years of highly successful tutoring experience, helping students not only achieve but frequently exceed their target grades.
My approach combines unrivalled subject knowledge with an exceptionally strong understanding of exam technique, mark schemes and what examiners are really looking for. Sociology is a subject where students often know more than they are able to demonstrate in exams; a major part of my teaching focuses on helping students develop the confidence, structure and analytical precision needed to access the very highest marks.
I work with students across the full ability range, from those needing support to secure a pass or improve organisation and confidence, through to highly ambitious students aiming for A and A* grades at top universities. Lessons are always adapted to the individual student’s needs, personality and learning style, but remain firmly focused on the practical requirements of examination success.
Students and parents often comment on my personable and encouraging teaching style. I build strong relationships quickly and place great emphasis on motivating students to take ownership of their learning and believe in their own potential. Many students who initially lack confidence go on to make dramatic improvements both academically and personally.
I provide extensive supporting resources including model essays, detailed revision materials, exam technique guidance, essay plans, knowledge organisers and tailored feedback. Sessions can focus on content delivery, revision planning, essay writing, exam practice or intensive support before assessments and final examinations.
I am flexible, approachable and fully committed to helping students achieve the very best outcomes possible. Whether a student is looking to build confidence, improve consistency or push towards the top grades, my aim is always the same: clear progress, strong exam performance and a genuine understanding of the subject.
