About my lessons
I’m a professional vocalist, songwriter and music educator with a BMUS in Vocals and an MA in Songwriting & Production. I have been teaching private vocal lessons since January 2024, working with both children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced singers.
My approach is supportive, patient, structured and creative. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt each lesson to their voice, experience, goals and musical interests. My aim is not only to help students improve technically, but also to build their confidence, creativity and enjoyment of singing.
What to expect in a lesson
A typical one-hour lesson begins with around 5 minutes of breathing and preparation exercises, followed by approximately 15 minutes of varied vocal warm-ups. I adapt the exercises from lesson to lesson to develop technique, control and flexibility while keeping the voice healthy and avoiding vocal fatigue.
The remainder of the lesson focuses on repertoire and practical singing. I usually balance one song selected to support the student's development with one chosen by the student based on their own interests. This allows us to work on specific vocal skills while keeping lessons engaging and connected to the music they love.
Depending on your goals, lessons can include vocal technique, breathing, pitch, musicianship, song interpretation, performance confidence, repertoire development and preparation for live performance. With my background as a working vocalist, songwriter and recording artist, I can also incorporate songwriting, recording and studio skills for students interested in developing their creativity beyond singing.
Most importantly, I want students to leave each lesson feeling encouraged, motivated and excited to keep singing. Whether you are completely new to singing, want to build confidence, prepare for a performance, or take your vocal skills to an advanced level, I’ll work with you at your own pace and help you achieve your goals.
I hold a current DBS check and welcome students of all ages and levels.
