Advert description
Street photography is one of the oldest and most human forms of photography there is. No studio, no brief, no setup — just you, a camera, and the world going about its business. Used honestly, a camera reveals the person behind it as much as the world in front of it. What you stop for. What you leave out. What you keep returning to without knowing why. That's not something you're taught. It emerges. And when it does, it's worth paying attention to.
I'm Richard and I help individuals of any skill level to get into the world of street photography. My approach is concept-first. Once you understand what you're looking for, the technical side follows naturally.
Every session is built around you — your experience, your questions, what you're trying to achieve. Complete beginners are as welcome as photographers who've been shooting for years. Even if you only have a phone, you're welcome here.
Topics can include anything within street photography: working on the street, building and reading your archive, printing, developing a personal project, through to publishing your own work. In-person photowalks across London are available too.
I have twenty years of professional experience across fashion, editorial and commercial work, including almost eleven years as Senior Photographer at YOOX Net-a-Porter Group. Before that, over six years as a Senior Digital Imaging Consultant at Calumet Photographic — running workshops, advising professional studios and institutions, and guest lecturing at academic institutions. Twelve years ago I discovered street photography and it changed the way I see — the world, and myself. I'd love to help it do the same for you.
