Advert description
I'm an experienced Maths teacher with over 16 years of teaching in Alternative Provisions, working with young people aged 11-19 whose needs cannot be met in mainstream schools.
I specialise in supporting students who may struggle with maths anxiety, low confidence, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia, or school avoidance.
Many of the students I work with have had difficult experiences with Maths in the past, so a key part of my approach is helping them to rebuildconfidence and feel safe to try again.
I teach across a wide range of levels, from Entry Level through to GCSE (Foundation and Higher), and lessons are always tailored to theindividual student. I start by identifying what the student already understands and then carefully fill in any gaps in their knowledge so that
new learning makes sense.
My teaching style is patient, structured and supportive. I break ideas down into clear, manageable steps and explain concepts in different ways until they click. Where possible, I link Maths to real-life situations or to the students´ own interests to make learning more engaging.
Above all, I aim to help students develop confidence and independence in their learning, so that maths becomes something they feel capable of tackling rather than something to fear.
Many students who work with me find that, with the right support and pace, they are able to make steady progress and feel much morepositive about Maths.
