QTS-qualified Maths teacher with 12+ years' experience, helping students of all ages build confidence and master algebra, geometry

I am a UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Mathematics teacher based in Lagos, Nigeria, with over a decade of classroom experience across secondary and primary education. I currently teach at Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board and previously taught secondary Mathematics at Rosyland Comprehensive College, covering algebra, geometry, trigonometry, introductory calculus and exam preparation. I also serve as a WAEC Mathematics Examiner, which gives me a strong understanding of assessment standards, common student mistakes, and what it takes to succeed in exams. My teaching approach starts with understanding each student's current level, goals and preferred way of learning, then building lessons around that rather than a one-size-fits-all script. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps, use plenty of worked examples and practice questions, and check understanding regularly so students never fall behind silently. I focus as much on building confidence as on technical skill, since many students' biggest barrier in Maths is anxiety rather than ability. I also bring a background in software development and digital tools, so I'm comfortable teaching effectively online using screen-sharing, digital whiteboards and interactive resources, alongside in-person tutoring.
