Advert description
Every student starts with an initial assessment, where I identify their strengths, gaps and goals and discuss priorities with parents. From this I build a personalised plan around their exam board, school calendar and target grade, so every lesson has a clear purpose.
In lessons, I break tricky topics into clear, simple steps using worked examples, diagrams and real-life examples, then check understanding before moving on. Students then apply what they've learnt through tailored worksheets and exam-style questions that match their level, from building core foundations to stretching for top grades.
I prioritise exam technique throughout. Using past papers and mark schemes, I show students how examiners award marks, how to structure answers and essays, and how to manage time under exam conditions. For A-level Economics, this includes chains of analysis, evaluation and using diagrams to reach the top mark bands.
I review weak topics regularly so knowledge sticks, set short follow-up tasks between sessions and keep parents updated on progress and next steps.
Seeing a student's confidence grow and their grades improve is what I find most rewarding about tutoring, and it's why I put my all into every lesson.
