Advert description
With over five years of private tutoring experience, I have taught students across KS3, 11+, GCSE and A Level, helping them build confidence, improve grades, and most importantly, genuinely enjoy learning. I specialise in maths and the sciences, particularly biology, which I studied at University College London, graduating with a First Class Master’s degree. My academic background allows me to teach with both depth and enthusiasm, especially in areas such as genetics and molecular biology, where I love bringing in fascinating real-world examples beyond the specification.
My teaching philosophy centres around understanding rather than memorisation. I strongly believe that students perform best when they truly understand why concepts work, not when they simply learn mark schemes by heart. Developing this deeper understanding leads to stronger long-term retention, greater confidence in exams, and a much more enjoyable learning experience overall. As someone who has always been passionate about maths and science, I aim to pass that enthusiasm on to every student I teach.
Lessons are highly interactive, structured, and tailored to the individual student. I adapt my teaching style depending on how each student learns best, ensuring lessons feel supportive, engaging, and productive. I often use virtual whiteboards, colour-coded notes, diagrams, and worked examples to make concepts easier to visualise and understand. I also encourage students to ask questions freely, including extra-curricular questions from personal interest, as curiosity is one of the best ways to strengthen learning.
For maths and science subjects, I focus equally on content understanding and exam application. A typical lesson includes content learning and independent problem solving. This gradual progression helps students move from understanding to confidence.
Over the years, I have worked with more than 30 students, many of whom stayed with me throughout their GCSEs and A Levels because they enjoyed the lessons and found them genuinely helpful. My approach is always student-first: lessons are flexible, supportive, and designed entirely around what will benefit the student most on the day. I aim to create a calm and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and developing confidence in their abilities.
