I would like to take an approach where I start by picking a question and asking the student what the question is trying to get at. This should prompt the student to think about where to start and what resources one could use. Once establishing that, I could start sketching out the solution. The move on to another simple question about the approaches they might take, and so on, until we both work together to arrive at the solution. This should help build confidence in approaching complex problems
