Advert description
I have done tutoring in the English language, beginner Dutch language and beginner French language. Languages were my favourite subject group growing up. And as an ESL ex student myself, I can relate to learning English as a second language.
It really would depend on the student's needs, plus the subject and topics covered within itself but here are the following things I look out for typically
- explaining using relatively easy (perhaps relatable) examples/comparisons
- logical steps procedure like scanning questions before comprehensive reading or making sure to use PEEL method(point evidence, explain, link back to the question) or for maths: easier quicker maths steps to get solutions etc
-If it's concerning learning vocab/grammar I would divide it up into different themes/sections with lots of representative imagery like how they do it in foreign languages. So that we cover multitudes of for example the English language and the tutee can picture exactly what the words/sentences mean( if that's the given subject)
-ofcourse I would give homework related to the things being discussed so I can see if tutee has a clear understanding and is mastering what's being taught
- may use PowerPoint/word/mind maps of some sort to visually show teaching materials
- If tutee has homework/exam from his or her institution or an external organization, I will certainly be able to guide said tutee!
In general, we will ofcourse be using several digital applications to get the tutoring going!
•Think of messaging/video calls/screensharing through e.g. Skype, Zoom, Google meet etc, (can also video call/message/voice record/voicecall on whatsapp if one prefers that)
• Filesharing through the above mentioned apps and or by email, G-suite( common Google apps for education like Google docs/slides etc)
There will be back to back communication and guarantee in advancement.
I would say my teaching style is very observant/adaptable. Everyone is different in terms of what they know and what they need. I would like to know what your difficulties and strengths are. So that I can tailor lesson materials and delivery accordingly.
I believe a combination of explanation, q&a, interactivity and practicality will do a pupil justice. Language is very dynamic so different techniques are involved to bring out the best output.
