Native English Speaker with Effective Strategies to Teach English as a Second Language

My name is Nassera, and I am from New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans is located in the southern region of the United States. I currently hold an ESL/ELL certification with a B.A degree in History and an MA in Museum Studies. When I am not teaching, I engage in a variety of activities. One of the activities I enjoy is gardening. I have a large garden in my backyard where I grow a variety of fruits and vegetables. A few of the things I am growing right now are lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, green peppers, watermelon, and kale.

Sometimes, I invite the neighborhood kids to my home to explore my backyard garden. When it is harvesting time, I share my bounty with family, friends and neighbors. Gardening is just one of the things I do in my spare time, however, I am also an art lover. I love and appreciate all types of art. There are many talented artists in my town. When I am not teaching or working in my garden, I love to visit the many art galleries in the New Orleans area.

I love to incorporate everyday life into my English lessons. Student with learn that building a wide vocabulary couple with an understanding of English grammar is a sure way to learn to speak English effectively.
