Teaching experience:
Undergraduate university tutoring: During my PhD at Durham University, I was an official tutor for the core module 'Maths for Engineers and Scientists'. I led weekly small-group tutorials, guiding undergraduate students through complex calculus and physics homework problems, identifying their foundational gaps, and marking coursework.
International school tutoring: I have provided targeted private tutoring to international high-school students in my home city of The Hague during summer holiday periods. This involved helping secondary school pupils solidify their core mathematical and physics foundations, and prepare for international curriculum tracks like IB and A-level maths.
Professional and cross-disciplinary mentoring: In my current role at the WODC, I regularly mentor and upskill colleagues from non-mathematical backgrounds (such as criminologists and sociologists). I am responsible for breaking down complex statistics, predictive models and machine learning architectures into accessible concepts they can apply to their own domains.
