I think the main skill in improving confidence in Physics is problem solving issues. As a result, the absolute best improvements I have seen are with students prepared to practise exam questions and problems. I like to watch while students solve so I use a shared online whiteboard. In this way I can identify issues which need to be resolved very early on.
