I have been teaching Arabic language skills to all levels (from complete beginners to professional translators) for 20 years.

I started my Arabic lessons with Ustadh Wassim about a year ago. I have since had the joy of being taught not just about the language, its grammar, and structure, but also about the life of this language. He has such a way of exposing his students not just to the rules of grammar in theory, but through poetry and songs; that has been my favorite part of learning from him. I started as a complete beginner, and while it has been a slow learning process, it has been a consistent and promising one. I now finally find myself understanding conversations and comprehending basic texts. I am also now able to have functional conversations, which has been such a joy. As a teacher, I think Ustadh Wassim brings a kind of rare flexibility by which he tailors lessons to the interests and abilities of his students. Instead of pushing the student alone, he meets them where they are and walks with them to where they wish to be. I would highly recommend him for anyone interested in learning Arabic.

I’ve studied with Wassim at the advanced level, and his approach stands out for how naturally he blends conversation with substance. Lessons never feel rigid or textbook-bound — instead, they flow the way a real conversation would, while still covering serious grammatical and stylistic ground. What sets him apart is the depth he brings from his background in literature and translation. Every lesson is layered with cultural and historical context, so you’re not just learning vocabulary or structures in isolation — you’re understanding how the language actually lives and moves in Arabic media, literature, and everyday speech. As an advanced student, I’ve made real gains across the board: my speaking fluency has grown, I’ve become far more comfortable navigating both Fusha and dialect, my reading of authentic media and texts has sharpened, and my grammar has become more precise. I’d recommend him without hesitation to any serious student looking to deepen their relationship to Arabi
