General science tutor for all ages, covering biology, the health sciences / physical education, and general writing instruction

Advert description
I hold two years of experience teaching and working in Higher Education at Adams State University, in the beautiful San Luis Valley, of Alamosa, Colorado; I hold a First-Class Honours MSc in Kinesiology, with an Emphasis in Exercise Physiology and Sport Performance Nutrition. I have also conducted original research, and collaborated interdepartmentally with a major R1 university whilst completing my MSc thesis, for which I was the recipient of a RMACSM research grant award.

I hold extensive experience both in the classroom setting and the human performance laboratory, alongside working in student services, in the form of writing instruction and tutoring, and coordinating learning accommodations for students with disabilities.

I provide both academic and creative writing instruction to students (editing student text, template formatting, and citation styles), and co-ordinate both individual and group session tutoring; throughout all providing individualised, one-on-one feedback to students.

Outside of the classroom, I have worked as a Special Olympics Physical Activity Instructor, for which I am responsible for designing and implementing physical activity training plans, tailored specifically to the unique and individual requirements of each student.

My teaching philosophy centres around teaching my students the ability to think critically and open-mindedly about all information they are presented with; and, most importantly of all, to develop a strong sense of resiliency. I encourage my students to question everything, and to remain curious and open-minded about the material they are learning, in order to become independent, free, forward, and creative thinkers; all of which best foster future research and entrepreneurial / general life skills.

I lead by immersive teaching practices and encourage open, in-class debates, while exploring real-life / world scenario applications (with a particular focus on the “applied” part of any subject matter). I love and thrive interacting one-on-one with others, and possess a keen interest in the application of knowledge to applied, real-life and world scenarios. I am passionate about education and teaching, both in the form of remaining involved in the world of working one-one-one with my students, and through encouraging the pursuit of continual / further education.
