GCSE Tutor – English GCSE or LAW GCSE

Advert description
I am a Law graduate who genuinely enjoys helping students feel more confident in English Literature, English Language and GCSE Law. My lessons are calm, supportive and designed to make these subjects feel much more manageable. Many students struggle not because they lack ability but because they have never been shown how to break a text or concept down properly. That is where my approach makes a real difference.
When working on English, I focus on helping students understand what a writer is showing beneath the surface. Instead of treating a text as something to memorise, I guide students to explore deeper meaning, tone, structure and the writer’s intentions. We look at how to read between the lines, how to pick out subtle techniques and how to turn those observations into clear, well-supported points. This is one of the key skills examiners look for and it can transform both confidence and grades.
For English Language, we work on improving clarity, structure and expression. This includes developing stronger paragraphs, understanding how to approach different question types and building descriptive or persuasive writing skills. Everything is taught step by step so the student never feels overwhelmed.
When teaching GCSE Law, I explain legal ideas in a simple and approachable way. We look at cases, key principles and how to apply the law in exam answers. Law becomes much easier once someone helps you understand the reasoning behind it, and I aim to make every topic feel clear rather than intimidating.
A typical lesson involves revisiting class content, analysing an extract or topic together, planning an essay, or practising exam-style questions. I use model answers, gentle questioning, guided planning and personalised feedback so students can see exactly where they are improving and what we should focus on next.
My experience supporting learners from primary to college level has taught me how important it is to create a space where a student feels comfortable asking questions and expressing their thoughts. My goal is always to help students feel capable, prepared and confident in their own abilities.
