A friendly, enthusiastic piano teacher. I welcome beginners of all ages, from young children to adults

I hold a BA in Music Education from Xinghai Conservatory of Music and an MA in Musicology from the University of Sheffield. I have taught piano and music theory to children and adults, including complete beginners and students preparing for graded exams. I also taught music during a primary school placement in China. I start by getting to know what you enjoy, your experience and what you hope to achieve. For beginners, we work on comfortable posture, rhythm, reading music and simple pieces, with music theory introduced as we go. I use demonstrations and break tricky sections into small steps, leaving time to practise together and ask questions. For children, I include simple musical games and short activities to keep lessons engaging. For adults, we work towards personal goals at a comfortable pace. You’ll leave each lesson with clear, manageable practice suggestions. There’s no pressure to take exams: learning for enjoyment is equally welcome.
