Advert description
am a native English speaker and experienced English teacher and communication coach with a strong academic and creative background. Through my work on Preply, I have taught students and professionals from different backgrounds and supported them in developing their English language and communication skills.
My teaching experience includes academic writing, creative writing, literary analysis, essay structure, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, public speaking, and general spoken communication. I create personalised lessons based on each learner’s level, objectives, and learning style. Some students may want to improve their confidence in conversation, while others may need support with university assignments, formal writing, presentations, or professional communication. I adapt my approach accordingly and aim to make every lesson practical, engaging, and supportive.
I have experience designing individual learning programmes rather than relying on a single teaching method. I can explain complex ideas clearly, identify areas for improvement, provide constructive feedback, and help learners practise until they feel more confident using English independently. My background in communication coaching has also taught me the importance of patience, active listening, and adapting explanations when a student finds a concept difficult.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and French and Francophone Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. This degree developed my research, critical-analysis, essay-writing, and presentation skills. Studying French and Francophone Studies also gave me personal insight into the challenges of learning and working across languages. I am currently continuing my academic studies at Sciences Po in Paris, where I am developing further knowledge of political science and political economy.
In addition to teaching, I have a background in acting and stage performance, including a role in the Netflix series Classified. I have performed in theatre productions, participated in international talent showcases, and presented to large audiences. These experiences strengthened my confidence, creativity, preparation, voice projection, and ability to engage with different audiences. They are particularly useful when helping students become more comfortable speaking and presenting
