Advert description
I am a second-year BPS-accredited Psychology undergraduate with a First-class result in my first year.
As an experienced tutor, I use pupils' practice papers to identify recurring mistakes. For example, when a pupil struggles with a question, I demonstrate how to approach it, explain the reasoning behind each step and then give them a similar question to attempt independently. I use their responses to decide whether to revisit the topic or introduce more challenging questions.
In my A-level Psychology lessons, I would:
- Explain theories through familiar situations, such as using rewards and consequences to distinguish operant conditioning from classical conditioning.
- Compare psychological studies, such as Milgram's obedience experiments and Asch's conformity research, examining their procedures, findings and ethical limitations.
- Break down biopsychology topics using diagrams to explain how neurons communicate and how different brain regions contribute to behaviour.
- Work through research methods questions, identifying independent and dependent variables, interpreting data and evaluating experimental designs.
- Use past-paper questions and mark schemes to practise AO1, AO2 and AO3, showing students how to develop evaluation paragraphs supported by psychological evidence.
I would review each student's exam specification and previous work before selecting topics and practice questions. After each lesson, I would use their answers to identify which concepts need further explanation and what to cover next.
