I teach one-to-one lessons by responding to the individual learner’s strengths, needs, and barriers. Following an initial assessment and discussion of the learner’s aims and objectives, I select and adapt appropriate literacy and study-skills approaches to meet their specific needs. I use a structured, multisensory approach, modelling skills clearly before providing guided and independent practice. I continually check understanding, provide immediate feedback, and adjust the pace and level of challenge accordingly. I also monitor progress and review targets regularly so that the learner can develop confidence, independence, and effective strategies they can apply beyond the lesson.
