I first identify the student's current understanding, then explain concepts using simple examples before gradually building up to more challenging questions. I encourage students to ask questions, make mistakes and develop their confidence through guided practice. I am a fan of asking students to verbally explain their thought process as they attempt a question. I also use regular feedback and progress checks to ensure they are improving and achieving their goals.
