Advert description
I’m a highly experienced full-time tutor with excellent references, a wealth of experience, and a long-running very successful track record. I mainly work through word-of-mouth recommendation but I have also garnered some reviews on this site. I am lucky enough to be able to tutor full-time due to continual high demand. What marks me apart from other tutors is, I have found, my retention level: students who began with me for 7+ support will return for 11+ and then GCSE assistance. I am usually asked to tutor all of their younger siblings. So I find that I often work for families for many years, teaching all their children in turn.
I have personal experience of the tutoring and 11+ process myself, having gained a full academic scholarship, aged 10, to City of London School for Girls. Here I obtained grades putting me among the top 10 highest-scoring candidates in the country in English, maths, psychology and RS at both GCSE- and A-level. I went on to study English Literature at the University of Warwick, where I achieved the highest 1st class BA Hons degree in my graduating year. I then worked as a corporate Learning Designer (writing and designing online training courses for clients) for a number of firms, such as Accenture and KPMG, for over 18 years whilst tutoring in my spare time and at weekends. A few years ago, and after having two girls of my own, I decided to tutor full time - which I am lucky enough to be able to do from our lovely house in Walthamstow, right next to Lloyd park.
I currently have 12 students (3 GCSE, 9 primary level/ 11+) and capacity for one or two more. Parents can rest assured that I do not need to fit lessons in around any other work and that all of my students have my full attention.
Tutoring full-time allows me to focus solely on my lesson planning and resource-gathering. It also affords me greater flexibility when it comes to rearranging lessons when needed. Please note that I do not offer group sessions as, although this can be a more lucrative teaching approach, I personally do not believe it is anywhere near as effective as one-on-one tutoring. Every child learns differently, has different skill sets to build upon and therefore benefits more from individual focus.
I'm a supportive, interactive tutor who aims to inspire all my students to achieve their full academic potential in an increasingly competitive sector.
