English as a foreign language for elementary, middle, and highschool students

I am a rising sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania studying Political Science and double minoring in Economic Policy and Law and Society. Growing up in the West Bank, I experienced firsthand the effects of under-resourced education on the futures of hardworking and deserving students. Therefore, I co-founded a club called “A’llem Gheirak” (Teach Others) Refugee Education Club, in which I trained high school volunteers on educational methods for teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to elementary students in Al-Jalazone Refugee Camp weekly after school. Every week, we helped the students with their school English homework, practiced conversational English, and honed their English phonetic and phonological awareness.

Upon returning to the West Bank this summer break, I teach EFL part-time as a private Conversation Teacher at the American Academy for Education, Languages, and Training. In this role, I prepare weekly lesson plans tailored to the individual needs of children aged 6 to 12. By maintaining an engaging, interactive, and structured learning environment, I foster effective communication and nurture the intellectual growth of my students.

My lessons are filled with interactive games and songs and are taught using conversational methods of teaching English. Catered to the student's needs, lessons may have a focus on reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending.
