Empowering GCSE Biology students to understand concepts, not just memorise them — from a Child Psychology postgraduate in London

I'm currently completing an MSc in Child and Adolescent Psychology at the University of Greenwich, building on 1.5 years of experience as an academic mentor at an SEN-focused learning centre in India. In that role, I delivered individualised academic sessions, contributed to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and supported children through behaviour management and emotional/sensory regulation — alongside subject teaching.
I teach GCSE Biology, adapting my approach to how each student learns best rather than relying on a single method. I have particular experience supporting neurodiverse learners and students with learning disabilities, using structured, alternative techniques where mainstream approaches haven't worked. Lessons are one-to-one, typically 45–60 minutes, and focus on building genuine understanding of concepts rather than just rote memorisation ahead of exams.
