Advert description
I am a UK-born educator with strong academic foundations in English Language and Literature, and I have extensive experience supporting families, particularly those based in London, with English learning for children aged 4 to 13. My approach is shaped not only by my own academic performance, but also by a childhood immersed in the education sector.
I grew up with two parents who devoted their careers to teaching. My mother ran a childminding business for nearly two decades, caring for children from infancy through early adolescence. From a young age, I observed and assisted with early-years learning, giving me a deep understanding of the foundations that underpin confident literacy. My father, a long-serving secondary school teacher, further shaped my appreciation for how reading ability influences a child’s performance across all subjects, particularly for international students adapting to the UK curriculum.
Through this background and my own teaching experience, I have seen a consistent pattern: many students do not struggle with knowledge, but with accessing exam questions due to uncertain reading comprehension. This barrier is especially significant in the 3+, 7+, and 11+ admissions stages, where the ability to interpret language is just as important as subject knowledge.
For this reason, I strongly advocate for a reading-led approach to English tuition. Lessons blend guided reading, reciprocal reading, and structured discussion to build fluency, confidence, and genuine enjoyment. I believe it is as important for students to hear language modelled clearly as it is for them to read aloud themselves; this exchange creates a dynamic, engaging environment that accelerates learning.
Equally, I view tutoring as an enrichment activity rather than an extension of school. Younger learners in particular benefit from rapport, trust, and a sense of comfort. For all new students, I encourage introductory sessions designed to establish an educational bond, ensuring that each child feels supported, understood, and motivated.
I am available for in-person tuition across London and Surrey, offering sessions between 7am and 9pm, seven days a week. If you are seeking a nurturing, structured, and confidence-focused approach to English learning, I would be delighted to support your child’s progress.
