Advert description
Good day,
As a Canadian criminal defence lawyer, I have represented vulnerable members of diverse communities, including LGBTQ+ and Indigenous individuals. In Montreal's Superior and Municipal Courts, I practised criminal defence, prepared cases and negotiated sentencing resolutions with Crown prosecutors. I also gained experience researching immigration jurisprudence and legal procedures for judges at the Federal Court of Canada.
I subsequently joined the University of Ottawa as a Research Associate while completing an MSt in Applied Criminology, Penology and Management at the University of Cambridge. My postgraduate research examined the ethical application of Indigenous Knowledge, Research and Methodologies (IKRMs) in Canadian academic and institutional contexts, particularly in engagement with Indigenous communities.
Upon establishing residency in the United Kingdom, I intend to develop my academic and professional networks while pursuing opportunities in tutoring and higher education. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to students' academic development and to share my enthusiasm for learning.
Thank you for considering my application.
Sincerely,
George Gao
