Art Tutor | Traditional Drawing, Painting & Creative Art Skills | GCSE & A-Level

Advert description
I teach drawing and painting through a structured, step-by-step approach, helping students build strong technical foundations before developing their own creative direction. Lessons can include pencil drawing and dessin, observational drawing, still life and object studies, composition, proportion, perspective, tonal control, colour theory, and visual development.

Students can develop practical skills across watercolour, acrylic and oil painting, learning how each medium behaves and how to use it effectively. This includes watercolour layering and transparency, acrylic colour mixing and surface building, and oil-painting techniques such as blending, glazing, layering, brushwork and colour relationships.

My teaching progresses gradually from observation and basic drawing skills, through composition and material experimentation, to more developed and independent artworks. Students first learn how to observe shape, proportion, value, texture and spatial relationships accurately; they then apply these skills to composition, painting and personal project development.
For GCSE, A-Level, IB and portfolio students, I also connect technical training with sketchbook development, artist research, experimentation, refinement and final outcomes, helping students understand not only how to make an artwork, but how to develop an idea from initial observation to a resolved piece.
