Advert description
I have a background in Immunology and Pharmacology, which are interdisciplinary branches of Biomedicine that combine Biology and Chemistry, to understand disease mechanisms and develop innovative treatments. I can understand scientific concepts and communicate clearly and concisely to a lay audience. For instance, I was selected to present my research about the collagen's role in breast cancer, post radiotherapy to the public, at The Royal Society. I presented my poster without jargon by having simple diagrams made in BioRender website, to make the audience understand the pathogenesis of breast cancer. I can apply this experience to make PowerPoint slides with clear diagrams that can allow students to follow and understand easily. I believe having visuals in presentations can help students recall the content better and engage more deeply, which can make learning more effective and enjoyable. I also volunteered in public engagement, where I communicated science and immunology to a diverse audience in The Francis Crick Institute and The Royal Society. For instance, I demonstrated how vaccines can boost immunity through hour glasses as a visual analogy to 11–16-year-olds. I received feedback and 80% of children have understood how a vaccine works in our body. I can apply this experience during my tutoring sessions to help students understand complicated scientific concepts easier.
