🎓 From Cancer Labs to Classrooms – A Passion for Nurturing Young Minds 🎓

Hello! I’m Cheng Shan—a bilingual (Mandarin & English) MSc Cancer student at UCL with a BSc in Applied Medical Sciences and a big heart for early childhood education. My background in paediatric research at Great Ormond Street Hospital gave me not only scientific precision but also a deep appreciation for children’s wellbeing.

During COVID, I launched an online platform delivering English lessons to over 100 primary school children in China—designing engaging content and tailoring lessons to build confidence and curiosity. I’ve also mentored high school students at an Oxbridge prep camp, helping them manage stress and ace interviews, and taught Chinese to international teachers from Sri Lanka and Ireland—adapting lessons for diverse learners.

Coming from a family of teachers—my mum teaches in a primary school—nurturing children is second nature to me. I love singing traditional Chinese songs, playing piano, and bringing books to life during storytime.
