A certified Korean language tutor with 11 years of experience

My name is Heeyoung Park, and I am a qualified Korean language teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching Korean as a foreign language. I hold a master's degree from the UK and a teaching certificate in Korean as a second language.

Since 2009, I have taught learners from a wide range of cultural and educational backgrounds in Japan, Korea, the UK, Colombia, and online. My students have included university students, exchange students preparing to study in Korea, members of multicultural families, tourists, and learners studying Korean for personal or professional purposes.

I taught Korean to exchange students at Gifu University in Japan and Korean language and culture to university students at Middlesex University in the UK. I currently teach Korean language and culture at the National University of Colombia. I have also taught Korean online since 2016, working with students from different countries and at various levels.

I tailor my lessons to each student's level, learning style, and goals. I focus on all four language skills—speaking, listening, reading, and writing—and aim to help students understand Korean rather than simply memorise grammar and vocabulary. For beginners, I can help you build a strong foundation in Hangul, pronunciation, grammar, and everyday expressions. For intermediate and advanced learners, we can focus on conversation, fluency, advanced grammar, and natural Korean expressions. I also offer TOPIK preparation and can help you prepare for listening, vocabulary, reading, and writing.

I believe language learning should be both structured and enjoyable. I use a variety of materials, conversation activities, role-plays, and real-life situations to make lessons practical and engaging. I also enjoy sharing Korean culture and explaining the cultural context behind the language.

I am friendly, patient, and approachable, and I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I love Korean language and culture, as well as K-dramas and K-pop, so I am always happy to share recommendations!
