Advert description
I am a graduate with a BA (hons) from the University of Cambridge in art history who is offering engaging lessons covering a wide range of art historical topics in preparation for A level and IB examinations in the subject. I am particularly familiar with the IB course, having achieved a grade 7 in it. Additionally, I would be delighted to provide introductory knowledge of art history to prepare students considering applying for the subject at University who have not had the chance to study it at school.
In my lessons I will provide individualised essay feedback and hone in on students’ exam technique, equipping them with the skills to combine close visual analysis with an in depth understanding and confident employment of critical texts in their work. I will prepare students to navigate art history as a dynamic discipline and a contested terrain of ideas, encouraging them to engage critically with art historical narratives, form their own viewpoints and learn to effectively support and defend them in examination essays.
I have specialised in Global Renaissance Art, British Architecture in the Age of Enlightenment, Industry and Reform (on which I wrote my undergraduate dissertation), Neolithic to Contemporary Chinese Art, Film and Visual Culture and Caribbean Art. I teach a broad range of subject matter, covering both western and nonwestern traditions in my lessons. In preparation for university admissions I will encourage students to read independently and develop their personal areas of interest in the subject, pointing them to relevant artworks, texts and exhibitions.
