Advert description
Free taster session available!
Violin lessons for all ages currently taking on beginner level students (up to ABRSM grade 3). Music theory exam preparation sessions for students up to theory exam grade 6 are also currently being accepted for one-off lessons.
Teaching primarily focuses on performance and building familiarity with reading music. This allows students to build confidence and develop an ability to express themselves on the instrument. Music theory knowledge is built practically through exposure to a wide variety of music from different cultures and contexts, ensuring all students are prepared for music grade exams if desired.
Teaching will use a variety of established books alongside elements of the Kodaly method and will last 30 minutes to an hour depending on the student.
A full size violin will be brought to lessons, though it is recommended students have an instrument to practise on. Younger students who need a smaller violin will either be offered a rental or advised to buy their own.
Lessons are £25 for 1 hour, £20 for 45 minutes and £15 for 30 minutes. Travel expenses are charged additionally.
About me:
I am a recent IBDP music graduate with experience working with children at a museum, primary school and nursery. I have a passion for working with children, helping them find joy in making music.
Violin experience includes many performances with school groups, in the UK and abroad, and an alternative pop-rock band. I have performed in a variety of ensembles and genres including in the pit band for the school musical and various classical ensembles. I completed the ABRSM exams up to grade 5 before focusing on the IBDP music course, for which I received the academic award for music from my school.
